A good lobster roll is hard to come by in London, so we welcome pop-up Rock Lobsta to East London with open arms next weekend. The team are bringing their crustacean-based expertise to Shoreditch on Thursday, 23rd til Sunday 26th June. Featuring lobster, crab and crayfish in it’s various delicious forms you can expect rolls inspired by those served ‘Maine-style’ in NYC – that is a soft roll filled with crab and lobster and lashings of your chose of mayo. Yum. The Rock Lobsta team know what's up, and so being that the UK's lobster season starts in June they've chosen the perfect time to bring us the freshest and best you can get - all seafood is all UK-sourced. We're glad they've come along to dig us out of our fish'n'chips hole with a selection of affordable takeaway meals. Want an example of what you'll be eating? Well, choose between a variety of lobster, crab and crayfish rolls with your choice of toppings and sides. Or maybe you want to keep it low-key with ½ dozen English fresh water crayfish – in the shell – served in a paper cone. We haven't seen many crustacean pop up food stalls, let alone ones from the likes of Rock Lobsta. The seafood weekender will be held at Luna & Curious, 24 – 26 Calvert Street E2 7JP from 23rd-26th June. Next step after that is the Disco Bistro ad-hoc dining concept, which will combine art, music and food in spots around London launching in September.   We love how Rock Lobsta are taking what is traditionally perceived as gourmet and bringing it to the masses, lobster is at its peak at the moment on UK shores and we should be lapping it up. It reminds us of culinary wizard Craig Thornton and one of his foodie escapades which involved giving out free grub on the streets of LA - the food in question? Foie Gras. Taking lobster out of it's luxury notions and into a soft roll on the streets of Shoreditch is a great move for the London foodie scene, where we're enjoying watching gourmet becoming  common place. Can't get down to East London next weekend? Hawksmoor do a killer lobster roll. We do spoil you.
