A number of new print mags have popped up over the past few months - take Flaneur and Swallow - but Riposte is a little different. Set up by Danielle Pender, chief curator at the KK Gallery, Riposte is aimed at women yet eschews the typical associations made with traditional women's magazines. Intended as a 'positive exploration of the modern woman', each issue will follow the same format: five ideas, four meetings, three features, two essays and one icon. The first issue includes interviews with Nelly Ben Hayoun, and Francoise Mouly, art editor of the New Yorker, and a 16-page monograph of artist, Linder.  Much like Libertine, Riposte is a timely antidote to the vapidity of fashion and celebrity-centric magazines. It's promising to witness the emergence of a new breed of magazine that champions interesting women, culture and design.
