REWORK
A new app allows users to remix Philip Glass tracks, and provides interacting visuals for the entire album.
On Tuesday we hosted a forum on The Future of Listening, exploring how labels, musicians and innovators are all evolving the listening experience. A new example that has caught our attention comes from Snibbe Studio (the agency also responsible for the Passion Pit app), with REWORK, a full length app-album treatment for the Beck/Philip Glass collaborative remix.
The app includes 11 interactive visualisations corresponding to each of the tracks, with engaging visuals ranging from 3D landscapes, to vibrating soundwaves and multicoloured crystals. Users can also remix their own music inspired by Glass' early works, by interacting with two virtual discs and generating new sounds.
Like Calvin Harris, Passion Pit and Bobby Womack, it's another interesting example of musicians adding an additional layer of engagement to their music through an interactive app. Check out the video above.
