'Realiti - Inside the Music of Grimes' is an interactive installation at this year's Moogfest which allowed participants to remix a Grimes track using nothing but their body movements.

Interactive installations are a smart way of heightening sensory experiences by enabling participants to personalise their art encounter. At this year's Moogfest, musician Grime gave people the opportunity to remix her track "Realiti" live by simply moving their limbs.

Powered by Microsoft Kinect, four sensors positioned in four corners of a space track motion taking place within a black netted area which hangs from ceiling to floor. The movement of hands on the mesh, which is illuminated by multi-coloured LED lights, is turned into 3D data which in turn remixes the different strands of the song.

"Moogfest is a destination for innovative creators to share new ideas, so it felt natural to bring Realiti - Inside the Music of Grimes to the festival,” Amy Sorokas, Director of Brand Partnerships at Microsoft Brand Studios commented. “With this installation we're exploring the unexpected ways that technology can enhance the music experience and are hoping to inspire the community.”
