It’s hard to find a voice within political analysis that tells you straight up how it is. But incrunch time for the US election, Sosolimited partnered with The Creators Project, launchingReConstitution 2012, a web app that objectively interprets the presidential debates in acompletely new way.

During the debates transcripts are visualised in real time and the software detects underlyingmeanings (like Obama’s and Romney’s psychological states) through analysing their use oflanguage. Did you know, for instance, that liars avoid using the word “I” and instead use “we” when speakingabout themselves? The app was developed with the help of psychologists and linguists; however, rather than being a serious analytical tool, they describe it as a “Bullshit Detector™ for Internetcontent”.

In the current era of surveillance, where powerful institutions are monitoring and analysingeverything we say and do, this is an interesting way of turning the game around.

Try out the technology during the last debate on Monday October 22nd 2am GMT. Or recap theprevious two here, and check out some telling statistics.
