Valentine's Day lunchtimes usually involve a frantic last minute dash to the petrol station to grab a bunch of flowers and a box of Ferrero Rocher for the loved one. But at Protein, we're firm believers that romance isn't dead, so we put on a very different sort of treat for all the staff yesterday - a roll-your-own sushi Lunchup.

The selection came courtesy of our in-house culinary genius Nina and her son Waris, and was hosted in our 18 Hewett Street gallery. At one o-clock on the dot, we downed tools, scrubbed our hands clean and headed downstairs. Each of us grabbed some seaweed sheets and filled them with all manner of Nina's freshly prepared fillings. There was delicate tuna, tender pork, soft avocado and some perfectly marinated eel. And once we'd rolled them all up (with varied results), we were soon stuffing them back into our faces and washing it all down with some perfectly chilled  Krug. It was, quite frankly, extremely yummy.

We'll be doing it all again in a couple of weeks, when we'll be making Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes/omelettes) with Sho Foo Doh. Then in March we're having another three feasts: Persian dishes cooked up by Soli Zardosht, Vietnamese food courtesy of Banh Mi 11 and the finest hot dogs in town thanks to Big Apple Hot Dogs.

We're not sharing this to brag or make you jealous, it's just to let you know how Protein rolls (excuse the pun) and if you'd like to work for us, then you can find our current job openings here ...
