When's the last time you posted something? Not in the sense of a Facebook or Twitter post, but real, physical post? Probably not recently enough, believe Real, a new social network with a twist.

Real is a physical network, where posting something means licking a stamp and going to the post box. They believe that real, tangible things are being forgotten in exchange for Instagram photos and 140 word character updates. As they explain, 'What happened to bringing back shells from the rock pools, or saving the beer mat from THAT bar?'

Their project, in collaboration with the Royal Mail, aims to change that by inviting members to have their own physical 'plot' (or metal cage) in Central London which acts as the equivalent to a Facebook wall. Members can send real items through the mail to be displayed in their plot, or can send something over for another members plot. In case the concept wasn't incentive enough, Real kindly provide each member with a stack of pre-paid envelopes...so literally all they need to do is find an object with a story, attach a tag, drop it in an envelope and it's done.

All plots can be viewed on the Real website, or anyone can go down to the gallery and have a look for themselves in person until July 27th.

Its an interesting and innovative project which makes us take a moment out of our busy digital lives to focus on real, tangible experiences. Like NOTANOTHERBILL we featured earlier this week, its another example of people seeking digital downtime and returning to good old-fashion mail.
