Art and music have always gone hand in hand. Realising this, music streaming service Rdio has launched a year-long weekly campaign pairing new music with original videos, artists, and animators. The project, using the company's blog New Music Weekly, as a platform was kicked off at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago with the release of UK design studio I Love Dust’s video for local Chicago band Gauntlet Hair’s track “Human Nature.” Each Tuesday for the next 50 weeks, Rdio will be releasing a 15-second clip that blends buzzworthy music and new visual art for a sensory feast. The spots will appear on the company's YouTube channel as well as at music festivals and will direct viewers to the site’s new music section.

The videos themselves are mesmerising. Vibrant creatures morph from one object to the next as viewers are taken on a psychedelic ride. Shana Fog, head of Marketing and PR for Rdio said, “art and music have always been intertwined as creative avenues for expression. Rdio’s New Music Weekly series is a fresh and engaging way to be introduced to independent musicians while simultaneously being exposed to tremendously talented visual artists.”
