There was once a time when getting the news meant a walking down the stairs in the morning, bleary eyed, to pick up the newspaper that had only just landed on your doormat.

This is no longer the case. Sure, not all the paperboys are out of business just yet. But the internet, with its free economics – and freedom in general – has greatly disrupted both the reporting and the business of news.

Have technologies and platforms, such as Twitter, YouTube, WikiLeaks and Google Glass, helped or hindered the journalistic process? How will tomorrow’s digitally-native readers consume their news? And – perhaps most importantly – will newspapers even make money in the future anyway?

On the 12th of November, as part of Internet Week Europe, Protein is devoting its next Forum event to the future of journalism and news. We’ve invited four experts, with a diverse array of backgrounds, to join us to present and discuss their views on this fascinating topic:

Martin Belam - Former UX lead of Guardian and founder of Digital Consultancy Agency Emblem
Simon Hinde - Programming Director of Journalism and Publishing at University of the Arts London, former Managing Editor at BSkyB
Julian March - Director of Online at ITV
Luke Lewis - UK Editor of Buzzfeed, former Editor of NME.com
