As part of Internet Week Europe, Protein hosted our Future of Journalism Forum. Taking an inquisitive look at the changing face of news production and distribution, we invited four industry experts to consider how the field is adapting in response to the digital era.

Moderated by our own Head of Insight, on our panel we had BuzzFeed's UK Editor, Luke Lewis, who talked about the dichotomy of online news and popularity of short form. The founder of Digital Consultancy agency Emblem, Martin Belam, formerly UX Lead at Guardian, used analytics to illustrate the impact of social media and sharing platforms on the life-span of a news story. London College of Communication Journalism Course Director Simon Hindespoke about the growth of curation in journalism and what paywalls mean for online news providers, while Director of Online at ITV Julian March revealed how users consume content, "skim first, dig second" and the importance of user generated content.

This ensuing discussion was both thought-provoking and informative, with a lively debate engaging both our speakers and audience alike. If you're interested in finding out more about upcoming UK and US forums over the next few months, sign up to our supplement here, and check out the photos below.
