From 15-16 April, fashion and art world big hitters Francois and Bernard Baschet, William Claxton, Jennifer Corker, Brian Dowling, TR Ericcson, Fernand Fonssagrives, Dan Graham, Walter Hugo, William Klein, Henry Krokatsis, Nick Knight, Craig McDean, Edward Quinn, Joseph Szabo, and Sissel Tolaas will all be showing major works at SHOWstudio as part of an exhibition. The exhibition is Practice to Deceive: Smoke & Mirrors in Fashion, Fine Art and Film, which will see all the above artists pick apart the old expression "smoke and mirrors" both literally in a fashion sense and figuratively as a metaphor for deeper meaning. The collection of pieces include iconic photographs such as  Joseph Szabo's famous portrait of an unknown girl (seen above) and William Claxton's snap of Steve McQueen puffing away on a cigarette. What we're particularly psyched to check out is T.R. Ericsson's nicotine drawings, which draw on nostalgia for his late mother. To make the pieces Ericsson rendered digital photos in nicotine as ashtrays filled with up to 600 smouldering cigarettes are placed under a silkscreen. The results are works of smoke stains with a faint whiff of nicotine. Sounds pretty wistful doesn't it? As part of the exhibition, SHOWstudio.com have also invited artists and fashion designers to 'take up residence' in their LiveStudio in Bruton Place to create one-off pieces of art and clothing which will later be added to the show. It's quite a lot to take in and with it only being on for a short time you'll want to prep yourself with all the info. Click here to get the specifics and make sure you RSVP to
