From the creators of Poptopia - a mobile game built around a popcorn world - comes an attachable accessory that emits a fragrance to add an additional sensory experience to the game. Dubbed the Pop Dongle, the device can be plugged into a game player’s iPhone or iPad audio jack to release buttery, popcorn flavoured scents in conjunction with gameplay.

Clearly aware of popcorn’s veritably irresistible fragrance, the game’s designers - popcorn company, Pop Secret - claim Poptopia as the world’s first ever smellable mobile game, but have created only three Pop Dongle devices, to be auctioned off on ebay with proceeds going to the American Red Cross. Whilst the Pop Dongle is an exclusive release, Poptopia (the game) is available as a free download via the iTunes App Store.

Although Pop Dongle is a world-first on the mobile gaming front, there has been an influx of product-related experimentation with sensory development and scent functions in the past, as seen in the Ophone, a mobile device which allows users to send scented messages to friends.
