Points is the world’s smartest street sign. Created by NYC-based digital agency Breakfast, Points is an interactive digital street sign powered by social-media. Based on a traditional three-arm street sign, Points displays content from Foursquare, Twitter, transportation APIs, RSS feeds and many other online sources across 16000 LEDs. The passersby can select information via a menu that updates in real time. The arms rotate to reflect the direction of the information, displaying data on everything from Tweets, events, local landmarks, weather, bars, restaurants and more.

With applications from cities, conferences, transit, sporting events, brand events/locations, concerts, the vast array of information is meant to keep both tourists and locals informed. According to creative director Andrew Zolty, the aim of Points is to “connect the real world to the online world.” At the moment, the only Points sign is located in the Breakfast office. Try it live using the hashtag #PointsSign on Twitter, which will point the sign in the direction of the tweet.
