Seven shortlisted projects have been revealed for the pioneering creative technology award

Bristol-based digital creativity centre Watershed has announced the shortlist for the third international Playable City Award, inviting artists, designers, architects, technologists and creative practitioners from all over the world to propose new and distinctive ideas that put people and play at the heart of the city.From 197 entries from 60 countries around the world, the seven shortlisted projects are being shared online for the public to ask questions of the creators and share their comments with the award judging panel.

- Lighting Conductor by Strange Thoughts Ltd allows Bristolians to conduct their very own city light orchestra through the movement of their bodies.

- Puffin Jam by Unsworn Industries adds musical expression to pedestrian crossings, prompting playfulness, conversation, random smiles and pranks.

- Supernatural by Kevin Walker and Yuri Suzuki re-wires and re-wilds the city, giving magical properties to natural materials in historical locations.

- Take a Seat by Happy City Lab encourages strangers to meet and interact over the humble bench via a system of sensors and LEDs.

- Urbanimals by Lax brings curious creatures to unexpected areas of the city, lifting your spirit with an invitation encouraging you to play.

- Whispering Clouds by Tine Bech hang over the city; one watching and listening for messages from the city, the other whispering the secrets and messages it has collected.

- Why Sit When You Can Play by The Urban Conga invites passers-by to play Marimba-like benches, bringing people together through music, light, and fun.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday 9 June 2015 with the successful artwork unveiled in Bristol in September.
