Do you sometimes imagine ways to make your urban environment faster, safer, or more convenient - in short, smarter? IBM thinks you might. And in a bid to crowdsource contributions to their new People for Smarter Cities initiative, they teamed up with creative agency Ogilvy France, who installed a range of poster ads that neatly double up as benches, ramps and shelters.

IBM aren’t the first to create ads that function as urban furniture, but they’ve impressively combined a simple call to action and striking graphic design with genuine usefulness. The fact that the ads are themselves examples of the progressive thinking they want to encourage might be the campaigns most remarkable feature.
