Ever wanted to take a sneak peek into a stranger's life? Operating in real time, the PeekInToo app allows users to anonymously see what others are getting up to. The app is navigated using a map to select a location of interest. Once that area has been chosen, a request is sent to a random user in that area that can either accepted or declined. The exchange arrives in the form of a 12 second video, shot the randomly selected user's phone.

This app is interesting because it enables anyone to witness real time footage of what's happening anywhere in the world. What sets PeekInToo apart from video and photo sharing apps such as Snapchat and Blinklink, is that this exchange is between you and a complete stranger, and therefore involves an element of risk and luck. Founder Yiannis Verginadis believes that "in the following years we are going to experience a burst of anonymous social networks." Which, judging from the appearance of anonymous photo app Rando last year, is a claim with merit.

With the mounting concern over privacy issues, users are placing greater value on their online anonymity and apps like PeekInToo provide a perfect example of a trend which we expect to see more of in the coming year.
