For the new ‘Zaha Hadid – World Achitecture’ solo exhibition, Zaha Hadid Architects designed a shape-shifting immersive installation that responds to people’s movements.

Created in collaboration with design studios Kollision, CAVI and Wahlberg, Parametric Space features a dark rectangular room with a membrane-like ceiling that lights up and protrudes towards the visitors as they move. The further people enter the room, the further the bulging shapes approach them, to the point when they almost touch them.

The installation uses two laser scanner sensors to map out the space, and four projectors to cast light onto the membrane.

Parametric Space is on view at the Danish Architecture Center in Copenhagen through September 29.
