An installation at the Brompton Design District in conjunction with the London Design Festival sees a collective of Goldsmiths students’ attempts to salvage the ever-changing landscape of digital data and revert it back to its humble origins as print press.

Borrowing from trending news feeds, a digital application lets users generate seemingly random headlines from online sources in new and irreverent ways. Once generated the headlines are printed using traditional printing techniques and exhibited as part of the Out of Print installation.  Retrieving data from a virtual sea of information, the results are often profound and confusing in equal measure.

A nostalgic endeavour, Out of Print is an interesting concept. By combining multiple online sources the app addresses the growth of digital media and how we relate to the unprecedented levels of data available at our fingertips.

The exhibition is open until the 23rd.
