Singapore-based design student Chan Min Yun has re-conceptualized the way we take medicine with her simple design of origami pills which 'bloom' in water. The innovative design aims to re-think the stigma associated with traditional medicine, and add a touch of luxury to a normally dreaded process.

As part of her project, 'Luxury is feeling blessed in Adversity,' the designer took three common medicines (amoxcillin, acetaminophen and paracetamol), and repackaged them so that each powder was enclosed within an origami flower. When this is released into water, the flower opens, releasing the medicine into the liquid which can then be drunk. As she explains, 'the experience of the watching process serves as a form of emotional relief in addition to physical relief from the medication.'

The project is a great example of a simple design serving a practical function whilst challenging the traditional associations of sickness and medicine. Check out the video above for more information.
