Domino’s customers can now order by tweeting the pizza emoji

Ordering pizza is what happens when you can’t be bothered to do much else; but just in case ringing or even ordering online was still too stressful, Domino’s have streamlined the process even further.

As of next week, Domino’s customers will be able order dinner by tweeting the pizza emoji or the hastag #EasyOrder to the @Dominos account. Customers will have to register an Easy Order account on the Domino’s website, with details of their pizza preferences, which will be despatched to their address when they order by tweet.

Domino’s UK’s profits jumped from £21.6m to £53.8m in 2014 as its app downloads soared from 3.2m to 8.2m over the same year. Seven in 10 of the pizza giant’s UK deliveries are now ordered online which could bode well for smartphone savvy Brits hoping that Domino’s will expand the tweet-ordering service feature to the UK.

Emojis’ vocabulary and functionality are broadening at a rate of knots. Last month Apple released a more socially diverse range of emoji, while the heart emoji was declared the top word of 2014.
