Lucy Feagins from Melbourne blog The Design Files brought her digital content into the physical world last week, transforming all the best parts of her website into a real world house.

Known locally as ‘Open House’, Feagins refurbished an entire home in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy with a little help from the talented folk featured on her site (and a lot of help from The Project Agency, which collaborated on the event).

No room was spared; bathroom, living room, kitchen and backyard were all tastefully fitted out with products from locals including Basil Bangs, Mr Kitly, Beci Orpin, David Bromley, Nicholas Jones, Joost and many more. There was even a coffee cart on the roof deck and a MINI in the drive.

The project ran for a total of four days (December 1 – 4) and worked as well for designers as it did for visitors; the latter were welcome to purchase whatever took their fancy and many products are still for sale (for a limited time) online.

Open House plugs directly into the global trend of enhancing and enriching an online platform by realising it as an offline experience and (importantly) connecting like-minded people in the process.
