The great outdoors and the desire to escape today’s fast-paced digital landscape seem to be on people's minds a lot recently, Just look at the summer camp for adults we talked about a while ago. US-based designers François Chambard and Frederick McSwain have created Off the Grid – a luxurious and creative collection of camping equipment.

Boasting a lean, utilitarian aesthetic, the collection includes the 6BCA tent – a classic A-frame tent made from powder-coated aluminum, maple hardwood and parachute fabric. It is outfitted with a concealed LED strip that transforms the structure into a collapsible light fixture. Quest for Fire is a chrome-plated oil drum that contains a cluster of flashlights and a red-lacquered interior, offering a mechanical and playful take on traditional fire pits. Taking inspiration from nature, the Cumulus Table imposes organic characteristics onto an industrial form. Etched with horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines, the table’s aluminum surface shimmers and changes as the sun hits it.

Off the Grid is exhibiting at Gallery R’Pure in New York until 6 June 2013.
