The Royal College of Art have launched a new project entitled, Object Dating.

Although there are millions of internet dating users in the UK, many have never ventured into the world of love letters and overused acronyms. Introducing a more unique method to online dating, the RCA have teamed up with artist and jeweller Hollie Paxton to launch Object Dating as part of their work-in-progress series.

To take part, users simply upload five objects that best represent themselves to the Object Dating website. Instantly, they are added to a network of images they can also look through to find objects that may suggest a potential match. Following on from this, the user can send an email to those whose collection of objects they are most drawn to.

By making objects the focus, Hollie Paxton aims to challenge the users' concepts of imagery and representation within society. Due to the subject matter, Object Dating also encourages like-minded creatives to get involved whilst providing a new approach for previous online daters.

The Object Dating project is on show until the January 18th 2012 and you can visit the website here.
