NOX
Onur Sönmez' interactive architectural installation enables user to turn off all the lights of a public space with a simple switch
A new undertaking of Turkish designer Onur Sönmez, NOX is an interactive architectural installation that questions the relationship between people and the urban landscapes they inhabit through a simple switch. By pulling a chord, the user is able to turn on and off all the lights in the building of new media company Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, giving them full control over a public space.
A project that's appealing due to its playful and and affectionately juvenile character – what could feel more rebellious than leaving everyone in a public space in the dark – NOX’s haptic interface sheds light on the control and power relations of a public facade in an original, engaging manner.
