Back in May this year, Nike launched a project called The Pool, which transformed a swimming pool into a BMX park in Dagenham, London. To launch the project, Nike held an Opening Jam featuring international teams of freestyle BMX riders. Now BMX community Defgrip has created the above video using footage from the event. Nike, ever the innovators, launched The Pool project to save a public swimming pool from demolition and refurbished it into a BMX park. The idea was designed to inspire people to participate in BMX in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, with workshops, training and demos taking place at the former pool. This video shows cuts from the opening weekend, action from the contests, and behind-the-scenes footage. We really like how Nike has played a role in the community, and created a place that local BMX cyclists can come together.
