Nike: The Art + Science of Supernatural Motion
Nike present their latest running shoe collection at the Milan design fair with futuristic visual exhibition and 3D projections
To celebrate the release of their special edition Nike Free and Nike Flyknit collections, Nike Stadium Milano unveiled a new exhibit, The Art + Science of Supernatural Motion, during Salone Internazionale del Mobile de Milan. Featuring work by top digital design artists, UK-based design collective, Universal Everything, futurist architect Daniel Widrig, and visual and sound artists David Quayola and Natan Sinigaglia, The Art + Science captures the “essence of the body in motion.”
The exhibit highlights Nike’s commitment to technology, art, and sport. Using 3D Projection Mapping, Universal Everything’s Art + Science of Fit allows visitors to physically manipulate woven shapes akin to those in the Flyknit. Flexure, the piece by David Quayola and Natan Singaglia, utilizes audio and visual elements to create a time-based interactive digital structure. In Daniel’s Widrig’s Art + Science of Flex, digital snapshots of a 3D-figure are manifested into a 4-meter long sculpture. Each piece reflects the freedom of movement found in Nike’s designs.
