In an ongoing effort to limit the environmental damage that comes from the fashion world, Nike have created the Making app, an iPhone application that assists and empowers designers. It does this by providing up to date sustainability information and statistics to help the design world make more ethical choices by choosing materials that limit manufacturing waste. Users can navigate through twenty two varied types of materials using the vibrant and colourful display, to find greener options for their projects. Each ranking is judged based on specific ecological criteria - water use, chemistry, energy and waste. The application has already been rolled out and used successfully by the London College of Fashion’s Center for Sustainable Fashion.This application fits within a broader, greener ethos from the groundbreaking sports brand, with initiatives like Reuse A Shoe illustrating a focus on limiting the wastage and environmental impact of garment manufacturing.Download it for free here.
