Google's latest project, Night Walk, is an immersive digital tour through Marseille that utilises the full arsenal of Google's capabilities. Made in collaboration with urban storyteller Julie de Muer and her team of local artists, visitors are invited to experience a service with more bells and whistles than the typical trek through Google Maps. Think of it as the deluxe version of street walk with shiny images, narrative video clips and informative pop-ups to offer you greater insight into your digital surroundings.

The ambient sounds and music as well as the dulcet tones of the charming tour guide, Christoph, heighten the immersive experience. While Christoph is taking us through his favourite back alleys of Marseille, admiring the street art or local buskers, you're welcome to go off track and discover things yourself (Christoph will make sure you'll eventually find your way back en route). The map also highlights the hot spots of the tour that can be collected almost like badges. All this gives us an idea of where online maps and urban travels are heading in times of hyperlocalism and  gamification - fully integrated and lots of fun.
