The media industry has long been critisised for twisting and manipulating the facts beyond recognition and subjective reporting. A single tweet can start a war when chopped by the media mill, akin to a game of Chinese whispers.
Colors magazine's News Machine dares you to tweet your headline over, and watch it being put through the modern media mangle. Your 'news' is first read out over a megaphone, and the tape recorder then converts the sound into text. It then gets displayed on a television screen. The journey continues, as the video is turned into a radio broadcast. The microphone interprets that message into text, which is finally printed out.

The idea being that now the message is nothing like the original tweet, as all the facts have gone astray. The tongue-in-cheek project is meant to simulate the 24-hour news cycle, and look at where a single headline can end up.

The News Machine bears similarities the Out of Print installation that let users generate seemingly random headlines from various sources, and get them printed out.

The News Machine installation was presented at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy. Colors Magazine's Making the News issue is out now.
