Last month we were raving about the New York Times Magazine retro re-design and now we’re floored by the latest from The New York Times’ Research & Development group. They have developed Cascade, a means to precisely analyse the structure of sharing activity on the web.

Cascade acts as a datavisualization of the underlying structure of sharing information on the web, so if you’ve Re-Tweeted a NY Times article or bit.ly’d one up to share with your followers, Cascade have mapped you into their system. This way we are able to see the lifecycle of a news story, see the shared conversations and the connections between the publisher and reader.

With Twitter undoubtably going mad tomorrow for the Royal Wedding, we're interested to see just who the influential sharers and contributors are - get Re-Tweeting, there's data to be visualized. See more here.
