Nokia, the Sundance Channel and Somesuch & Co have teamed up to explore to lesser known parts of American music in a series of films. Each of the six documentaries will focus on a different city and a different emerging genre from around the U.S. The film’s subjects include the next evolution of urban music in New York, Portland’s growing infatuation with dance and techno, the role music is taking in the rebuilding of New Orleans and how Atlanta Trap looks set to take over the world.

Bearing similarities to Resident’s Advisor’s series of European based short films around that we looked at last month, the project is an interesting example of a brand recognising the importance of musical association, and in particular, emerging musical association.

The films are being episodically premiered on the Sundance Channel's site. Watch them here.
