Muji celebrates the season of goodwill with a concept straddling the homely, crafted &   nostalgic with the digital, networked & futuristic. An installation in Japan's flagship Yurakucho branch hosts a complete, mini gingerbread village comprised of 100's of 'houses' and candy pieces, all programmed to display realtime tweets and Instagram photos on mini screens embedded on to the 'walls' of the houses.

Visitors to the store are invited to contribute using the #mujixmas hashtag where they'll see their Christmas message displayed live. A dedicated website Muji Homemade livestreams video footage of the gingerbread house and its digital biscuit billboards. A rolling display side bar is constantly updated with new Xmas wishes.

Created by design studio Tha Ltd, the concept modernises the snail-mail process of sending seasons greetings by card with the instant gratification and sharing capabilities of social media.

It's another example of a concept blurring homespun and digital worlds like our recently featured Projecteo, Volume and Noise and Little Printer projects.
