Didn’t make it to the Cannes Film Festival? Don't worry. MUBI, the online film library storing handpicked visionary works from around the globe, brings you their 'best of' in a one-off Cannes Retrospective.   MUBI thought it would be a fitting way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the annual Semaine de la Critique AKA Critic’s Week by working their way through the Cannes archives to share with you an essential viewing guide, providing their selection of highlights available to stream online, absolutely free. Following the grain of free music, we're into the highly curated free film program MUBI has taken on - bringing us a legal way to access high-quality films. Running as part of the Cannes Film Festival, Semaine de la Critique was founded by the French Union of Film Critics in 1962 to provide a strong platform to fledging filmmakers. Open to directors from around the world, the week is reserved exclusively for first and second feature films and has supported industry talent such as Ken Loach, Wong Kar Wai, Bernardo Bertolucci and Jean Eustache. MUBI honour the spirit of the Semaine de la Critique by sharing important independent films, regardless of their geography and language, bringing them to the audience they deserve. MUBI are running their line up until June 30th and offering free streaming of the films up to the first 1,000 views. Click here to check it out.
