Ever wanted to visualise music in a more physical format? Well now you can thanks to research and experimental studio Realitat and their project Microsonic Landscapes.

Billed as an algorithmic exploration of the music, Realitat selected a selection of albums (including Nick Drake's Pink Moon and Portishead's Third) and converted each into a 3D representation using Processing and Makerbot. Different tracks from the album were 3D printed in a cylindrical form on top of one another, creating different layers and shapes.

As the team explain, the project, 'proposes a new spatial and unique journey by transforming sound into matter/space.' It's an interesting interactive design project that, 'turns the hidden into something visible'. Check out more info here.
