ME.WE
Taking the 'green' label seriously, this prototype car from Toyota offers a range of extra-environmental features.
Jean-Marie Massaud, an award-winning French designer known for his nature-inspired furniture pieces, got a call from Toyota to design an 'anti-excess' car, the Toyota ME.WE. The car's designed around the idea of challenging the sustainable auto manufacturing industry to not just use the 'green' label as a marketing ploy, but a proposal to rethink the manufacturing process in the context of limited resources.
By making it completely electric, using lightweight tubular aluminum frames, and 100% recycle panels, and ruling out all high-end options or upgrade packages the car's been designed to be 20% lighter than a car of the same size. The ME.WE is in the early stages of its life-cycle and there is no release date for when it will hit the market.
