Next Tuesday, our gallery 18 Hewett Street has the pleasure of hosting an exhibition of the late Abdul Mati Klawein’s works. Having been labeled ‘the most famous unknown artist’, Klawein has produced over 50 album covers – all of which will feature in Antoine De Beaupre’s new book documenting his works, ‘Mati & The Music', to be presented at our gallery.

With an introduction by award winning French author Serge Bramly, the book features a collection of the German born, Parisian bred artists’ original, psychedelic paintings for LP & CD covers, which rose to popularity during the 60’s and 70’s.

Klarwein’s most famous works include ‘Annunciation’, the artwork for Santana’s Abraxas album. Close friend to Jimi Hendrix and Timothy Leary, Klarwein’s other clientele include legends such as Earth Wind & Fire, Malcolm X and Joe Beck. And he's also the man behind Miles Davis’ landmark album, ‘Bitches Brew’ - in fact a limited edition run of 500 copies of the book will include two brand new Miles Davis LP’s of the unreleased Copenhagen live in 69’ concert.

Having recently launched successfully at David Lynch’s Paris based club, ‘Silencio’, Librairie 213 & Balthazar Klarwein now welcome you to join in the exclusive celebration of the late visionary painter and psychedelic guru’s art, this Tuesday the 24th of April, from 19.00 to 22.00.
