With us at the very beginning of summer we hate to go and remind you of the colder months ahead – but the new Maharishi A/W11 collection  is definitely worth popping on your radar even this far ahead. The label launched in 1994 with the objective to produce environmentally conscious, fair-trade, well made and utilitarian clothing. You can read more about Maharishi’s founder and creator Hardy Blechman’s vision of contemporary wear in his 994 page book, DPM Disruptive Pattern Material, on reworking the connotations of camouflage.   For this years A/W range Maharishi took inspiration from the Special Forces. ‘Into The Light: Survival 2012’ is a user conscious range of clothes that’ll prepare you for the wintery cityscape without room for error. Features include: high tech webbing, Swiss riri waterproof zips, densely woven naturally waterproof organic cotton, anti-abrasion Kevlar fibres and 3M reflective material that turns on when exposed directly to white light. We’re not even joking.   In charcoal greys and textured blacks, this modern armour comes with a dash of soul; including subtle hints of red internal details to symbolise Buddhist prayer robes. Maharishi’s collection isn’t about promoting the aesthetic of war, it’s about dressing the modern citizen. Click here to browse through the lookbook.
