A problem with exporting our day to day lives to the internet is moments that matter to us tend to be trapped on our smartphone and computer screens. A new start-up hopes to free the content on your phone and transform your favourite pieces into personalised objects you can keep around the house.
Madesquare has just launched its first iOS app, riding on the popularity of the iPhone photo, the company invites users to turn their pictures into keepsakes like postcards, magnets, calendars, canvas prints or even wooden blocks.
Inspired by Pinterest and Etsy, Madesquare is a rather simple way to create appealing new items from digital content. Users pick up to 20 available products, starting at $2, and then choose photos from their camera roll – Madesquare puts together a preview which can then be adjusted before the transaction is finalised.
Madesquare bears similarities in concept to Qleek, which turns online content into decorative and interactive real-world objects and Telescope Cards, meanwhile, collates tips from Foursquare and realises them in the form of a customisable deck of cards.
