London Pleasure Gardens, a major new 20 acre site in the heart of Olympic East London, is opening its doors for the very first time on Saturday 30th June. The colossal project, brought to life by the team behind Glastonbury's Shangri-La and Mutate Britain with support from Newham Council, has transformed this forgotten stretch of wasteland into a bonafide wonderland, ready to host a plethora of innovative, worldclass art and culture events. The concept was inspired by the Pleasure Gardens that existed between the 17th and 19th centuries, where people from all walks of life converged to immerse themselves in the culture that makes London great.

The features on site sound incredible: a 2,800 capacity sound proofed and projection mapped space for all night partying, a floating cocktail lounge with 24hr license and a bridge of boats, an art hotel and restaurant, a 27,000 capacity open space for concerts, a large scale sculpture garden and an uninhibited nature reserve...the list goes on.

In the first few months alone, the LPG will play host to leading UK electronic music festival BLOC featuring Snoop Dogg, Orbital and Steve Reich, the Africa stage for BT’s River of Music, accommodate London 2012 Olympics tournaments and showcase original architectural works by RIBA.

It all kicks off, however, with the public two-day Paradise Gardens festival from 30th June - a veritable smorgasbord of global arts, entertainment and activities. Audiences can expect live music from the likes of Roots Manuva and Alabama 3 as well as a spectacular pyrotechnic theatre from renowned performers The World Famous. There will also be off the wall street arts, a village fete, a swing dance ballroom, a vintage funfair, the best in Londonʼs street food, plus a craft market ... all for free!

So come down on Saturday 30th June to experience it all for yourself! Click here for more info.
