Copenhagen-based creator Andrew Spitz presents a tangible way to reflect on a beloved trip with Ioci, a software program that outputs a 3D printed sculpture of a series of flight patterns. With customizable locations, colors, and materials, each sculpture is bespoke to the individual’s travels and tastes.

To ease with the process of airport selection, users may integrate their Foursquare airport check-in or information from a Tripit account directly into the software. The software then generates a file suitable for 3D printing so those with access to a 3D printer can produce their own sculpture or it can be printed through a service like Shapeways. To aid with data visualization, each Ioci comes with a card highlighting the various selected airports on a map. Ioci transforms digital data into lively sculpture that aims to spur recollection, reflection and conversation about the act of travel.
