Projection mapping onto disco balls sounds like a very cool, but hard to achieve idea. The brainchild of two Danish designers, Kyle McDonald and Jonas Jongejan, Light Leaks uses 50 mirror balls and three projectors to create a fairy-like light show that mesmerizes the viewers.

Created for the CLICK Festival in Denmark, the installation required a series of five or six structured light scans, 41 pictures each, where McDonald and Jogenjan photographed different light projection patterns. They then analysed the position of every projected pixel and used SketchUp software to build a 3D model that allowed them to translate all the data into a glittering spectacle.
