British fashion brand Pringle of Scotland commissioned artist Liam Gillick to launch an exclusive capsule collection during this year's Design Miami event.

The LiamGillickForPringleOfScotland project, a collaboration between Gillick and Pringle's design director Alistair Carr, made its debut as a temporary pop-up store located in the Miami Design district.

The collection of accessories and clothing on display are a  fusion of abstract design and the brand's renowned heritage patterns. Using a vibrant colour palette with monochrome accents, the collection is a bold show of block patterns and a great translation of Pringle's British origin for the American market. By accentuating the designs through this use of colour, Gillick also demonstrates the brand's innate allegiance to contemporary art and its relevance within Miami's art community. The pop-up store, which is located in the design district's Mosaic building, appropriately emphasises this as the items are displayed among interweaved lights and block interiors similar to that of Pringle's signature.

Showing how a cultural event can be used as a way to introduce fashion brands, Pringle does this without moderating any of its original concepts. Recreating this cultural declaration, the brand will also use this collection to relaunch itself within the European market as 2012 will see the project appear in Milan and Berlin.
