As we said in the Play Report of our latest Journal, we're seeing an increasing trend of producers handing over the ablilty to build and modify their products to the consumer. From build-it-yourself cameras to customisable furniture, the customer has never been so empowered.

Romanian design studio, Dragos Motica, explore this idea with their latest product, the / (Slash) Lamp. A simple ceiling hanging design, the bulb is encased in a tube of concrete. The lamp can function perfectly fine as it is, however what's interesting is that in the package, along with the lamp, is a rock that the owner is invited to use to smash the concrete surrounding the bulb to create a unique, personalised design.

Exploring ideas of 'building vs destroying', the / Lamp is an interesting idea that raises questions about how we treat and think about our products.
