It seems hard to go anywhere without stepping on a 3D printer or a self-programmed device these days. Opening up the door to allow people to create their own products appears to be on the rise. Whether it's the appeal of the transparency in how it's produced or the sense of pride in having a hand in creating something yourself is hard to say, but whatever it is, as consumers and their desire to be involved in the production process it's possible that we never grew out of Lego.

Bearing similarities to the Pop-Up Pinhole Camera, the Konstruktor camera from Lomography comes as a multi-part, plastic kit that requires assembly before it can be used. Looking more like an Airfix set than a camera, the 35mm SLR camera is an interesting example of a product that sets itself apart from others by engaging with customers on a creative level.
