Kenz, a lingerie company established and based in Palestine has localised intentions that include the generation of a thriving Palestinian economy.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been ongoing and constant, but this milieu of numbing violence omits the smaller infractions suffered by those at the forefront. It is often said in the broad scheme of life, that the little things are actually the big things, and with a recent reignition of violence serving as a reminder that a resolution is no closer to being established, any solace found amidst the daily hardships should be treasured.

Kenz, a commercial lingerie company founded by Palestinian women Christina Gamin and Nicola Isabel, operates from within the West bank itself, and has a short term goal of providing the women of Palestine with the choice and dignity sorely lacking from the present consumer experience, (one that currently relies upon market sellers, smugglers or the convoluted practice of having desired items shipped to Jordan or Israel first to avoid crippling import taxes.)

Kenz could, in theory, pack up and establish itself in Jordan or Dubai but the founders have no intention of doing so. Instead, the company’s long-term ambition is to contribute to a successful regeneration of the Palestinian economy, creating jobs and opportunity in the process. Though Kenz ship to parts of the Middle East, a recent pop-up store in Ramallah helped to reaffirm their localised commitment to serving the West Bank.
