Nike's voracious commitment to all things performance-related has found an artistic expression in the conclusion of their Journey To Greatness project inspired by the experiences of world-class athletes, and executed by graduates from LCC, LCF, Camberwell, and Chelsea and Wimbledon.

Over the past six week, a group of graduates from some of London's top arts and design institutions have been mentored by LCC's Dean of Design, Lawrence Zeegan and artist, Dave White to create a collection of T-shirts that captures the spirit and intensity of an athlete's road to victory.

The grads immersed themselves in the world of athletes such as Paula Radcliffe, Allyson Felix, Dai Green and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey through a series of training sessions and interviews in an attempt to understand their state of mind as much as getting to grips with how they function physically. These insights and learnings were then translated into T-shirt designs which were presented at 1948 London earlier in the week.

What emerged from the project was a distinct parallel in the qualitatively different journeys of artists and sportswomen and men. And beyond this being another example of the current obsession with personal achievement and striving for excellence, it's really interesting to see the concept of performance interpreted in this way.  T-Shirts are on sale in 1948 London and Nike Town from 14th July.
