Noemi Schipfer and Takami Nakamoto of NoNotak design studio, put their skills to the test by creating an instillation that captured the complicated relationship that Fukushima residents have with nuclear energy after the 2011 tsunami disaster caused the entire city to be evacuated.

The design team premiered the installation at Geneva's 2013 Mapping Festival. The Isotopes v.02 installation invites the viewer into an intense and aggressive sonic 'cage' that is intensified with light and is seemingly inescapable. The idea being that this is representative of how the residents of Fukushima became trapped by the source of energy they once relied on.
