‘Invisible You. The Human Microbiome’ will incorporate live science events, formal education and interactive installations focussing on different facets of the human microbiome. “This fascinating new exhibition is one of the most compelling and important we have ever staged,” says Jo Elworthy,The Eden Project's Interpretation Director. “We have fabulous collaborations between artists and scientists, and will be presenting an amazing collection of artworks.”

The Cornwall institution has commissioned 11 artists to create thought-provoking new exhibits. In a creative display of bacteria, and viruses, multidisciplinary design studio Owl ‘n’ Wolf have created animation ‘Bellyvision Apparatus and the Like,’ which delves into a series of entertaining and informative stories. Meanwhile, design maker Victoria Shennan has set upon creating a sound installation piece that transforms bacteria rDNA sequences into rhythmical music. If that isn’t enough to wrap your head around, expect choreographed dances, eye opening sculptures and belly-button portraits.

In association with the exhibition, Eden has developed a design brief entitled ‘Human By Nature’ for this year’s RSA Student Design Awards. The project encourages students to think consciously and promotes the importance of well-being. Establishments such as MoMu in Antwerp and the Tate Sensorium are similarly bringing audiences closer with their unification of science and art, to inspire a generation.

Invisible You: The Human Microbiome opens in the Core building May 22. Entry to the exhibition is included within the normal admission price to the Eden Project. To buy tickets in advance click here
