Last night the doors opened up for our first exhibition of the year at our 18 Hewett Street gallery. INFRA was conceptualised, designed and created by interactive artist Chris Shen and is a large scale sculpture highlighting the unseen technology in our digital landscape.

Despite the freezing weather, the gallery was buzzing with people wanting to experience first hand the infrared TV installation that has been in development over the last year. The piece contains 625 discarded remote controls that Shen has programmed so that the infrared light each emits can be controlled. The grid of remotes is linked to a live TV stream meaning you can control and watch the television through the sculpture – but the image is only visible when viewed through infrared googles.

The exhibition is running until Sunday 3rd February so if you didn’t get a chance to come to yesterday’s opening make sure you come by to experience for yourself this amazingly innovative piece.
