IKEA have entered the realm of augmented reality with their 2014 catalog.

The Swedish brand has also produced an accompanying app for both iOS and Android devices that allows customers to visualise how different products would look in their own home. By placing the catalog in the spot they've mentally pictured that special piece of furniture, users can then scan the area with their smartphone and view a virtually replicated room. What's more, using image recognition software, the user can scan content from the physical catalogue itself and pull up additional information on customisation and availability.

From music festivals to projection mapping, augmented reality continues to have many new and innovative applications.
